Name: Jonas Hamilton
In-Game Name: 601138
Age: 27
City: Los Angeles, USA
Favorite Fandoms: Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, Westworld, Deus Ex
Favorite Singers/Bands/Composers: AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses. rock bands in general (classic ones, not modern)
Preferred Weapon: IOI Standard Issued Assault Rifle, Zenith 10mm Handgun (From Deus Ex: Human Revolution)
Preferred Vehicle:  IOI Standard Issued All-Purpose Vehicle

Bio:
Jonas is never good at following orders, yet he signs up with IOI because they really do pay good money if you work for them. Despite the rather depressing, dystopic workplace and having to keep up with the unrealistic demands of his superiors in the War Room, Jonas feels like he's able to make a lot of new friends here. Hell, his current crush is a pretty girl who's working in Sorrento's Oology Division who has been introducing him to many cool new pop cultures during what little break-time they have together. At least with IOI, he could actually connect with other people in the real world instead of strangers with fake faces inside OASIS.

Jonas feels that as horrible IOI's endgame goal is, it could actually make a difference to the future of OASIS and the real world. Nowadays, people have been avoiding living in the real world and fixing its problems and wasting their time in the OASIS instead, and Halliday's post-mortem challenges he left for the players only make things worse. He would know since a lot of people he knew ruined their lives spending too much time and resource in OASIS, some even 'lost their shit' when they zeroed out, sometimes with fatal consequences. At least if the IOI won the challenges and takes control of OASIS, the absurd policies they're most likely to implement on the virtual world would help turn people away from it, and maybe it might lead to the OASIS's downfall, and by then people might actually go back to living in the real world for once.

Like other Sixer avatars, his default appearance in OASIS is a faceless grunt in IOI armor. His 'face' is the only thing he's allowed to customize, and he chooses to look like Bryan Cranston's appearance in Breaking Bad, his favorite TV series.

Note;
So, something new today. Because even the IOI needs some love, right? xD I like how in the movie, you can see that a lot of Sixor grunts have some personalities to them. Sure, they're bad guys, but they're just doing their jobs, and they can feel terrified or excited from things that happen to them in OASIS, giving the impression that they aren't all faceless mooks. Jonas is but one of the thousands Sixors in OASIS, but he also has his own life story and ambition. It's just that he's working for the villains instead of heroes.

Just had a chance to rewatch Tron: Legacy recently. It's a pretty good film, considering that it can stand really well on its own if you haven't watched the original, but I can see quite a few flaws and understand why it didn't really get good reviews. But try to give it a try if you have some time. The visual effects are GORGEOUS to look at and the storyline is pretty interesting if somewhat not really executed properly...

...sounds A LOT like another popular film quite recently that arguably has the same reputation, eh?

I can't help but finding many things that are very similar between Tron: Legacy and The Last Jedi, especially concerning the development of two classic characters: Kevin Flynn and Luke Skywalker.

- Both characters were the main characters in original films when they were younger.
- By the time of the sequels where they appear again, they have already become legendary but had since long disappeared and nobody could find them.
- Both become older and wiser but also got a bit more cynical about the state of the things around him.
- Both tried to create something significant for the world (Kevin builds The Grid and discovers the ISOs, Luke tries to rebuild the Jedi Order) but they were betrayed by their apprentices and went into exile in a faraway place.
- Said apprentices were someone close to them (CLU is Kevin's own clone, Ben/Kylo Ren is Luke's nephew) who have emotional issues.
- They later get a new apprentice, a young, determined, resourceful female character (Quorra and Rey).
- In the climax, both sacrifice themselves to buy the time for the younger heroes to escape, getting some closure with their former apprentices turned villains in the process.

This not even mentioning how they both dressed in very similar styles and also have a beard xD.

Now, I am by no means comparing the two films' qualities as a whole, that would be another discussion entirely. I'm just comparing Kevin Flynn and Luke Skywalker. Well, what do you guys think? :)

Name: Gabriella 'Gabby' Bradford
In-Game Name: Zephyria
Age: 18
City: San Francisco, USA
Favorite Fandoms: James Bond, Knight Rider, Mission: Impossible, Blade Runner, Inception, The Matrix, Kingsman, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Men In Black, Tom Clancy series, Hitman, among others
Favorite Singers/Bands/Composers: Michael Giacchino, John Barry, David Hasselhoff, Henry Jackman, k.d. lang, Thomas Newman, Duran Duran, Jesper Kyd
Preferred Weapon: M2019 Blaster (Rick Deckard's Pistol from Blade Runner), SC-20K M.A.W.S. (Sam Fisher's gun from Splinter Cell),
Preferred Vehicle:  KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand), Aston Martin DB5 (James Bond edition - heavily customized for maximum performance)

Bio:
Gabby is crazy for all things espionage not unlike how her adoptive brother Colin is crazy about flying. She tends to identify herself as 'Agent Z' when in OASIS, but her actual avatar name is Zephyria, which seems to imply that she's 'as swift as the west wind'...whatever that means.

Due to her love for espionage, she uses her technological savviness to dig into the IOI files from time to time to discover their plan of taking over the OASIS, either through Halliday's challenges or through other underhanded means and forwarded whatever she finds to her idol Gunter 'Art3mis'. One of the things she found out is that if the IOI fails to win Halliday's challenges, then they will turn their focus to their 'backup plan' by blackmailing her father Marcus Bradford, a high-ranking employee of Gregarious Simulation Systems, for highly valuable data that could discredit the company and leaves IOI free to to perform a hostile takeover, taking control of the OASIS with it no matter who's in charge.  She eventually gains the attention of F'Nale Zandor, Sorrento's ruthless enforcer, and she struggles to maintain her real identity a secret and keep her family safe. Things get even more complicated when a Gunter named Parzival won the first challenge and became a celebrity. Gabby suddenly finds herself having a crush on him, but Parzival only has eyes for Art3mis and it seems like he's committed to her. The only good that comes out of this is that Parzival's instant fame turns the IOI's attention (and F'Nale's) away from her while she continues to provide support to Art3mis's Resistance however she could.

Her avatar appearance is based on the Joi hologram from Blade Runner 2049 but with violet, anime-like hair instead of cyan bob style. She wears a tailor-made Kingsman outfit based on Roxy's design (she's still pissed off that Roxy had only a minor role in The Golden Circle) and a pair of sunglasses based on Agent K's from the Men In Black series, modified to include night vision, thermal imaging, and bulletproof glasses.

Note:
I intended Gabby to be a foil to Art3mis. I wanted her to be sort of a character who actually has a huge impact on the main story but is never acknowledged by anyone no matter what they do according to canon. Gabby 'could've been' the sixth member (or Sixth Ranger, if you would) of the High Five, but she is instead one of the many extras not unlike other background characters in OASIS. While each character does play a part in supporting roles, they are never meant to be part of the main story, and that's what I would like Gabby to reflect (if I could actually translate that idea into writing...ugh, it sucks when you have so many ideas inside your head but you don't know how to write them...)

So I just came back from watching Ready Player One and oh my God, it was like my childhood dream came true! (well, as close as it's going to be, anyway). There are a few plot issues here and there, but I let most of it slide because the rest of the film (the fanservice-y parts) totally make up for them. So, I just can't resist making an original character of my own as well. He might not be as cool as Wade Watts or the rest of the High Five, but I'm planning to make him a foil to them.

Name: Colin 'Cole' Campbell
In-Game Name: AltairixOne
Age: 16, almost 17 in a few weeks
City: San Francisco, USA
Favorite Fandoms: Tron, Star Wars, Ace Combat, Top Gun, Macross, Mass Effect, Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Starcraft, RWBY, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Uncharted, among others
Favorite Singers/Bands/Composers: George Michael, Kenny Loggins, David Bowie, Gloria Gaynor, Owl City, Keiki Kobayashi, Nobuo Uematsu, Michael Giacchino, Two Steps From Hell
Preferred Weapon: Blue Lightsaber, Gambol Shroud (Blake Belladonna's weapon from RWBY), M-8 Avenger Assault Rifle (System Alliances standard assault rifle from Mass Effect), DL-44 Pistol (Han Solo's pistol)
Preferred Vehicle: Light Cycle (Tron: Legacy edition), VF-22 Stumvogel II from Macross 7

Bio:
Colin grew up alone on the streets of San Francisco after his parents died in an accident and no one else in his family bothered to take him in due to the financial crisis in 2037. He was eventually found and adopted by Marcus Bradford, a high-ranking employee of Gregarious Simulation Systems, the company that created and maintained OASIS.

He spends most of his time bickering with Marcus's own daughter and therefore his 'big sister' Gabriella 'Gabby' Bradford about who gets to play the sole VR system at their home first. He's always hooked to OASIS to escape from his bad past and achieve his lifelong dream to become a pilot. With OASIS, he can fly to his heart's content as he participates in any and every dogfighting PvP or PvE events out there. His skill as a pilot is among the best in the entire OASIS. And every time he flies, he always has Ace Combat soundtracks (mostly by Keiki Kobayashi) blasting in his cockpit as he performs impossible stunts one after another and outflies his opponents before shooting them down spectacularly. Being a son, even an adoptive one, of a high-ranking GSS employee means he could afford to buy all the best items and vehicles available, but he always prefers to start low and slowly hone his skills from low-level aircrafts.

When he's not flying, he's out there trying to win Halliday's racing challenge. He always has a thing for bikes. In the real world, he usually sneaks out and races his Kawasaki across the Golden Gate Bridge and back, pretending to be Maverick from Top Gun. The same applies in OASIS, only in the game he prefers to use the iconic Light Cycle from Tron: Legacy. He would've driven Kaneda's bike, but Art3mis already owed it and he doesn't really want to drive a duplicate, plus red's not really his color. Too bad he was not destined to win the challenge as he keeps getting destroyed by Kong.

His in-game avatar is based on Percy Jackson from the series written by Rick Riordan and Nathan Drake from Uncharted series, wearing the Sneaking Suit from Metal Gear series, and a bit of Jedi Robes. Not the best mix, but he makes it look good and practical.

So there you have it! I might be writing about Gabby and Marcus themselves as well in the future, as well as a possible short story involving the three of them during the events of the movie. ;)

First of all, I mostly enjoyed The Last Jedi as a Star Wars fan. I thought it presented many new interesting developments that unfortunately executed in not really well done ways. But I'm not here to write a review (god knows how many of those are out there), I'm just presenting my own version of TLU. It'll be mostly the same as how it was in Rian Johnson's version, but there are also a few major changes.

The first 10 minutes of the movie would be exactly the same. IMO it was the most 'Star Wars'-like part of the movie, though I might downplay Poe taunting Hux a bit. It felt too much 'our world' than Star Wars. Other than that, the whole thing is solid. Finn wakes up to find Rose taking care of him while he was in coma. The whole encounter in the escape pod bay where Finn gets tased by Rose would be cut, as I feel it adds nothing to the story.

Now this is where the plot changes. This whole new arc will be in place instead of the Canto Bight arc. Instead of arriving at nowhere, the Resistance fleet would've arrived at a planet in the New Republic territory. Here, the fleet stops to rearm and refuel. Here, Leia finds out that the whole New Republic is in disarray after Starkiller Base destroyed the Hosnian System in TFA, and the First Order took advantage of the chaos to launch a full-scale invasion all over the galaxy. As soon as she realizes this, a First Order fleet, led by Snoke's flagship the Supremacy itself, arrives at the planet and launches an attack. Kylo Ren personally leads a figther squadron to attack the Raddus. Leia would sense his presence like she did in the film and tries one more time to turn him back to the light side. This is because I wanted to explore Leia's relationship with her son more. In the real film, it's too underdeveloped. While Kylo is still conflicted, his wingmen attacks the Raddus's main bridge, but since Leia isn't on it at the time, she doesn't have to go fly around in space this time. Instead, she'll display her force power by saving the bridge crew from being blasted into space. That way, she managed to save Admiral Ackbar, though he's severely injured by the blast and gets into a coma. The sheer stress of the force power also rendered Leia comatose as well, leaving only Vice Admiral Holdo in command.

Meanwhile, Poe, Finn, Rose, and some of the Resistance forces planetside are doing whatever they can to evacuate as many civilians as possible off the planet. Vice Admiral Holdo, realizing that the remaining Resistance forces would never be able to fight the far superior First Order fleet, orders a retreat. Poe, who was in the air in his X-wing at the time, had no choice but to follow her orders and grudgingly leaves Finn, Rose, and some Resistance troops behind to escape to hyperspace, leaving them trapped on the planet as the First Order forces conquered it. This is to set up Poe and Holdo's conflict to be more believable than in the film, where Holdo questionably decided to withheld important information from Poe and the rest of the crew, which results in a severe misunderstanding that almost doomed the Resistance.

In the meantime, Rey finds Luke Skywalker, who refuses to train her but relents after R2 shows him Leia's message to Obi-Wan Kenobi, just like in the film. Rey's arc would remain mostly the same, with her bonding with Kylo Ren through the Force. However, I'll change the reason why Ben Solo fell to the dark side. Luke's characterization where he almost decided to kill an unarmed Ben in his sleep was severely criticized by fans as totally ruining his character, so here I think I'll change it a bit: Luke was going fine with training Ben and a group of new generations of Jedi, until one day Snoke shows up out of the blue and attacks the academy. Luke tries to defend it, but since he's not in his prime anymore, he's no match for Snoke's powers and loses. Ben and a group of younglings are kidnapped by Snoke, while the rest are killed. Ben, who's simultaneously fearing for his life and disappointed at his uncle for failing to save him, fell easily to Snoke's corruption and became Kylo Ren. Luke was saved by Lor San Tekka, the old man from TFA's opening, and decides to go into hiding and learn more about the Force until he becomes powerful enough to save his students, but became disillusioned when he learns more about the Jedi's history: the battles between the light side and the dark side have been going on for millenias. When one side is triumphing over the other, the other will rise up again and wipes out most of the winning side and brings back the balance to the Force. This happens to both in Jedi and Sith sides. Every once in a while, there's a great Sith purge, or a great Jedi purge, and every time it happened the galaxy fell into a prolonged war that devastated planets. New chosen ones arise to bring balance back to the force and so on. Anakin was nobody special, Luke was nobody special. They were just pawns to the Force. Hence why Luke became disillusioned in the Force, gave up on his quest and went into exile.

Finn, Rose, and the stranded Resistance members try to find their way off the planet while being pursued relentlessly by a First Order hitsquad led personally by Captain Phasma. They enlisted the help of DJ, who at first help them deativate the planetary shield and allow their ship to escape the planet, only to lead them to General Hux himself on the Supremacy, just like in the movie. In the meantime,  the Resistance fleet is under constant pressure from the pursuing First Order fleet. Poe argues with Holdo over the Resistance troops left behind, with Poe insisting to go back and save them while Holdo wants to lead the rest of the fleet to safety at an old Rebel Alliance stronghold on planet Crait. Angry, Poe decided to stage a mutiny, only to be stopped by Leia herself when she healed from her injury. Together, Leia and Holdo convince Poe that he should prioritize saving the rest of the Resistance first. Live to fight another day, as they say. Unfortunately, DJ's trechery allows the First Order to discover the smaller transports escaping the ship. Admiral Ackbar, who recovered, decides to remain behind on the Raddus to cover the Resistance escape ships. And he's the one who's going to pull that light speed kamikaze move. That way, Ackbar could go out in a more dignified way while Holdo could also live to fight another day.

Rey flees Ahch-to to try to redeem Ben Solo on her own just like in the movie, while Luke gets some encouragement from the Force Ghost of Yoda. Yoda explained that in his long life, he too had questioned how the Force treated everything in the galaxy, but then come to the realization that it's part of nature. With too much side having power, the galaxy has no balance. It must be constantly tested in order to improve life further upon, and that it's the duty of the Force users - both Jedi and Sith - to refine that balance into something better.

Rey boards the Supremacy while Chewie takes the Falcon into hyperspace with a promise to bring back some help from 'an old friend'. Rey is recovered by Kylo Ren who takes her to see Snoke. The same happened. Kylo Ren kills Snoke but refused to redeem himself, he reveals that Rey's parents were no one, etc. Rey, Finn and Rose escape in the ensuing chaos when Ackbar rammed his ship into the Supremacy, while Phasma remains alive this time. All the Resistance members who got captured are unfortunately all killed.

The surviving Resistance members reunite and make their stand on Crait as the First Order launches a ground assault. The same thing happened like in the movie. The Resistance tried and failed to take down the First Order's battering ram cannon, and all hopes seemed lost until Chewie and Rey shows up in the Falcon, alongside no other than Lando Calrissian, who's back in the cockpit of the Falcon, along with some of his reinforcements. Despite this, they are still no match for the First Order, until Luke finally shows up after some encouragement from Yoda. Luke thoroughly humiliates Kylo Ren in front of his entire army before gracefully disappearing, becoming one with the Force.

Rey, Poe, Finn, Rose, Leia, Lando, Holdo and the surviving Resistance escape abroad the Millenium Falcon with hopes to rebuild the Rebellion and take the fight back to the First Order. No broom boy this time though lol.

And there it is, how I would've improve The Last Jedi's story. No more morally-ambiguous Luke and questionable competence of Holdo. Lando is back and Ackbar gets to go out like a badass, and all the interesting twists in the film are still there. Some remaining plot holes of the last film gets addressed like Lor San Tekka's story and the New Republic's state after the First Order bombed it all to hell. What do you guys think? :)
